Start of Sailing Season:
Sailing will start when we have sufficient members (see above!), hopefully soon after Easter.  A clean up of the container and a check of all the dinghies is required.  HINT HINT, could our frostbiters please organise??.   Members will also be required for Ruffian maintenance and for the lift in so expect a email/call and please help out!

Powerboat courses:
The first of 2 powerboat courses was held on the 5/6 February.  Eight SID members, Ann, Carina, Carlos, Cearbhall, Joan, Keith and Sean and Joan, successfully completed the course.  Despite the very cold (but dry!) conditions the course was enjoyed by all.  The course was held in the Royal St George YC and instruction was given by Phillip from RStG, Colm from the National YC and Nigel and Damien from SID.  A second course is now planned for either the 21/22 May or 28/29 May.  I currently have 5 people booked for a total of 9 places.  If you are interested please mail me ASAP.

Club promotion :
SID is always seeking more members. Spread the word and if your company issues a Staff newsletters, why not try to put an advertisement or article into it?

Boat Show :
SID had a stand at the boat show for the first time.  Thanks to Joan, Martha, Niamh, Carlos, Keith, Séan Twomey, Bryan, Gearóid, Carina, Ann, Patricia Mulvihill, Bryan, Aidan and myself the stand was manned for the 5 days of the show.  There was good interest in the show and hopefully it will result in a some extra members and greater awareness of SID.  Damien Bradley was caught assisting a Cork club with their promotion!

SID Table Quiz
The SID 21st celebration/reunion Table Quiz was held on Friday the 11th March was a great success.  18 teams took part in the quiz with more people arriving as the quiz was being held. Thanks to Joan and Martha who assisted in organising the night and thanks also to Coca Cola, Niamh and Joan for the spot prizes, and thanks to the winning team who donated their prize money to the RNLI. Over €1000 was raised for the RNLI.

There are over 10 members heading down to Glenans Collanmore for Paddys weekend and 2 are heading to Glenans Baltimore.  Best of luck to all those taking part in Instructor pre-assessment and to the rest enjoy the sailing and drink sensibly ;-)
The May Bank Holiday weekend is full in Baltimore. Is anyone interested in a trip to Baltimore on the June Bank Holiday weekend 3 to 6th June?  If there are 10 in the group a 10% discount applies but this would have to be booked very soon! .  Weekend spaces still available in Glenans, Collanmore for the Easter, May and June bank holidays.  Why not book a week long course and maybe receive €50 back from SID? Visit http://www.glenans-ireland.com
